We took the kids to the fair this year and they got to learn about what it is like to live in Africa. Katie carried a large drum of water about 10 feet to get a feel for what it would be like to have to carry your water. They got to pretend to plant corn fields, turn corn to cornmeal, and of course, play some African music. It was a very moving exhibit put on by World Vision. We even watched a video about children in Africa, and it really put things into perspective and a bit more understanding for Katie on why we sponsor kids in Africa. We were so proud of her starting to understand and ask questions, and to be more thankful for all we have here in America.
Then of course, to conteract all we had learned (probably not the smartest idea, but so fun!) We took the kids on some rides and enjoyed some fair food!
